NOTICE Press Release – Wisconsin Rural Water Association July 24, 2006 350 Water Way Wisconsin Rural Water Hosts National In-Service This year Wisconsin Rural Water Association (WRWA) played host to the National Rural Water Association’s (NRWA) 20th Annual In-Service Training Seminar. Over 550 state rural water association employees gathered in Milwaukee to study and share their knowledge regarding the fast moving water and wastewater trends affecting the United States. This four-day seminar focuses on sharing ideas, communicating industry changes, and providing advanced ideas to implement in the office and field. The goal of in-service is to provide high-level education and technical assistance in a challenging environment. The NRWA is a federation of 48 State Rural Water Associations serving over 24,855 water and wastewater utility members in 49 states with additional programs in Honduras and Puerto Rico. Each year NRWA selects a State Rural Water Association to host the in-service event. Nationally, Rural Water trains over 55,000 water and wastewater system personnel annually. State Rural Water Associations provide around 100,000 on-site technical visits every year. Rural Water training and technical assistance creates a network of support so Water and Wastewater systems can deal with the complex issues of today’s industry. The Wisconsin affiliate of rural water has a staff of 18, consisting of trainers, field support circuit riders, source water specialists, ground water specialists and office support staff. There are eleven board members who oversee WRWA. The mission statement of WRWA is “To assist water / wastewater systems improve and preserve the quality and quantity of water resources in the State of Wisconsin.” WRWA is the largest utility association in Wisconsin.
