"Conserve Water for Life"
The Wisconsin Rural Water Association and local water utilities invite teachers throughout Wisconsin to enter students' artwork in WRWA's 2012 Water Conservation Poster Contest. The contest is open to all Wisconsin public and private school 1st – 6th graders. Winners will receive prizes and have a chance at a prize for their school.
The theme for the contest is "Conserve Water for Life". Teachers are encouraged to discuss the importance of water resources in our State as a part of the project. Water facts to consider:
• Showering and bathing are the largest indoor uses (27%) of water domestically.
• The average household's leaks can account for more than 10,000 gallons of water wasted every year, or enough water to wash nearly 10 months' worth of laundry.
• Less than 2% of the Earth's water supply is fresh water
• Each person uses approximately 60 gallons of water every day in Wisconsin.
• Make a commitment to conserve water.
All entries must be drawn vertically (portrait) on 11"x14" poster paper. Entries must be postmarked no later than March 9, 2012. See page 2 for contest guidelines and rules. Contest Prizes are sponsored by the WRWA Society of Water Professionals. One first and second place winner will be selected from each grade level 1st through 6th. Winners will be chosen and announced at the Wisconsin Rural Water Association Annual Conference March 27-30, 2012.

Students are encouraged to use few words, large lettering, heavy lines and strong colors.
