Other Than Municipal (OTM) Non-Transient, Non-Community (NN) Circuit Rider Technical Assistance
Wisconsin Rural Water Association works with systems that are Other Than Municipal (OTM), and Non-Transient /Non-Community (NN).
An Other-Than-Municipal (OTM) water system is a system that serves at least 25 year round residents (anything greater than 6 months is considered year round). OTMs are owned by an entity that is not a municipality. Examples of these include mobile home parks, subdivisions, apartment buildings, and condominium associations.
A Non-transient /Non-community (NN) public water system serves the same individuals every day such as schools, factories, day cares and churches. These facilities are served by their own supply of water (usually a well) and are required to provide a safe and adequate supply of water.
OTM/NN water systems are regulation by the Department of Natural Resources in order to ensure that they provide clean, safe drinking water. Wisconsin Rural Water's OTM/NN program offers on-site visits to help water operators with samples, reports, treatments, water conservation and training. WRWA Circuit Riders work alongside system personnel to train operators how to correct a problem rather than simply fixing it for them. Each year our OTM/NN Circuit Riders make over 1,000 on-site visits to communities in the state. It is a priority of WRWA water programs to provide high quality drinking water for WI residents therefore this assistance is provided at no charge to the systems and communities they serve.
