The Wisconsin Rural Water Association and Sportsman's Raffle Presents:
2010 Water Conservation Poster Contest
"Water Conservation:  Protecting Our Resources"

The Wisconsin Rural Water Association and local water utilities invite teachers throughout Wisconsin to enter students' artwork in WRWA’s 2010 Water Conservation Poster Contest. The contest is open to all Wisconsin public and private school 1st – 6th graders. Winners will receive prizes and have a chance at a prize for their school.

The theme for the contest is “Water Conservation: Protecting Our Resources”. Teachers are encouraged to discuss the importance of water resources in our State as a part of the project. If schools would like a presentation on water, please contact the WRWA for availability. Water facts to consider:

• Every day, Wisconsin residents withdraw about 759 million gallons of groundwater from private and municipal wells.
• A meal of a quarter-pound hamburger, fries and a soda takes 1,400 gallons of water to produce
• Water is essential to life and is used in many ways.
• Each person uses approximately 60-80 gallons of water every day in Wisconsin.
• Make a commitment to conserve water.

All entries must be drawn vertically (portrait) on 11”x14” poster paper.
Entries must be postmarked no later than March 5, 2010.  Winners will be chosen and announced at the Wisconsin Rural Water Association Annual Conference March 23-26, 2010.
