Public Works and Utilities Technician

The Village of Weston, Marathon County, WI, pop. 15,276 is seeking a fulltime Technician for the Public Works and Utilities functions within the Services Division. The purpose of this position is to support the Services Division by planning, coordinating, directing, and supporting operational activities primarily in the areas of public works/utilities and technology services.

Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in surveying, drafting, mapping, or closely related field plus one year of work experience in public works OR equivalent combination of closely related education and professional experience. Work experience in public works construction, sewer and water utility operation and maintenance, or equivalent combination of closely related education and professional experience. Possession of a valid Wisconsin vehicle operator’s license. Knowledge of Graphical Information Systems (GIS) including experience, or desire and aptitude to use GIS software such as “ArcMap,” “ArcView,” or “ArcInfo,.” Certification by the WI DNR as a Public Water Supply Operator, Grade 1, with Subclasses G, D, and V, is highly desirable. Significant responsibilities will include administration of the Village’s cross connection control program, private (garden) well program, asset management system, analysis and reporting of operational data, and maintenance of record drawings and GIS system.

There is frequent interaction with the general public and other Village departments. Starting salary range is $18.62 to $22.76 hourly DOQ, plus benefits.
