The Water Department Maintenance Worker plays a key role in supporting the department’s mission to provide a safe, adequate and reliable supply of water with appropriate and efficient management and maintenance of the pumping and storage distribution system. The Water Department Maintenance Worker reports to the Water Department Supervisor and performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s water distribution system. 1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Current State of Wisconsin Municipal Water Supply Operator Certification with subclasses of Distribution and Groundwater or ability to obtain within twenty-four (24) months of hire.
3. Prior experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water main pipes, meters, services and pumping and distribution equipment.
4. Valid Wisconsin Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with air brake restriction lifted and “N” (tank vehicle) endorsement, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, and good driving record.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Pay: $18.74 – $25.71/hour, plus an excellent benefits package.
Typical Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. plus additional hours as required for emergencies. This position is typically on call every 6th week and will typically work 2½ – 3 hours on the Saturday and Sunday they are scheduled on call; this is in addition to regular hours.
No residency requirement.
