WWTP Operator I

The City of Lake Mills Light & Water (LML&W), is accepting applications to fill an open position in the wastewater treatment plant. This is a full-time position involving the diverse duties associated with the operation and maintenance of the treatment plant. Lake Mills is an active city with a busy, progressive wastewater utility serving more than 3,000 customers.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess, or able to obtain, a minimum Grade 4 general DNR wastewater license and certification in all pertinent subcategories within two (2) years. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and have, or be able to obtain, a CDL license within six months of hire. A positive and cooperative attitude, willingness to take direction, strong internal and external communication skills, an attitude of teamwork, and a commitment to community service are necessary to succeed in this position. Applicants must have the ability to perform strenuous physical labor and manual tasks. This position requires the applicant to serve on-call duty on regular intervals, with the ability to respond to after-hour emergencies in less than 20 minutes. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong mechanical background, very good math skills, and sincere interest in science and chemistry. Applicants will be required pass a physical and drug and alcohol screening prior to hiring. Reference and background checks will also be conducted prior to hiring.

The City of Lake Mills offers competitive wages and benefits. Anticipated starting wage for this position is $18-$19/hour.
