City of Fond du Lac is accepting applications for the position of Engineering Technician II within the Department of Public Works Water Utility Division. This full-time position reports to the Water Utility General Manager. The applicant must be capable of performing skilled and advanced technical work in the office and the field in conjunction with design, construction and coordination of municipal water distribution projects; have good public relation skills; and be a motivated independent worker. This position offers a flexible schedule with opportunities for advancement in other areas within the Utility.
Qualifications and/or knowledge and willingness to learn the following include:
Water main design; prepare plans and specifications for contract bidding; understand utility construction practices and procedures to oversee construction activities; create and maintain utility infrastructure records using ESRI ArcGIS; advise and coordinate work with Water Utility maintenance crews, provide general and technical information to private contractors and the general public; conduct fire flow tests; review proposed plans for private & public water main extension projects; and manage utility specific projects and programs.
The position also requires the employee to participate in the on-call rotation.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent; previous technical training and/or relevant experience in civil engineering and water distribution; five or more years of engineering office or field experience and good communication skills. Associates degree is preferred.
