City of Beaver Dam Utilities is accepting applications for the position of Lab Analyst/Wastewater Systems Operator in the Wastewater Utility Department. The primary role of this position is to perform wastewater lab analysis and assist with wastewater operations to comply with the WPDES permit, DNR regulations and City of Beaver Dam policies. This opening is due to an upcoming retirement of an experienced lab analyst / operator.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Wastewater Lab analysis
- Maintain bench sheets, data reporting utilizing computer programs (Hach WIMs, MS Excel and Word)
- Maintain records of tests, chemicals, equipment calibration, inventory, orders
- Responsible for quality control of reports
- Utilize SCADA system for plant operations
- Work with bio solids disposal including cleaning digestors, tanks, basins
- Operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facilities
- Monitor gauges, meters and other equipment to insure proper system functions; interprets problems and corrects them accordingly
- Respond quickly to emergency conditions which may place the public safety or water quality in jeopardy
- Routine and preventative maintenance on water and wastewater system components
- Cleans, paints and repairs facilities and equipment to assure long service life and reliability
- Effectively interacts with customers, coworkers, contractors and others to insure effective operations of utility systems
- Practice continuous business improvement
- May monitor subcontractor performances to insure contract compliance
- Perform necessary duties related to plant cleanliness and outside maintenance
- Other duties as directed including assisting in water utility functions
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge of water and wastewater components, their interrelationships, and functions in a properly operating system
- Knowledge of public water / wastewater basic regulatory requirements
- Strong math, writing and basic computer skills
- Possess WI DNR Wastewater Operator Certification: Basic Laboratory
- Two years experience as Wastewater Lab Analyst
Desired Qualifications:
- Graduation from technical school in a water or wastewater regimen or equivalent education and/or related experience
- Possess WI DNR Wastewater Operator Certification: Advanced Laboratory Certification
- Possess additional WI DNR Wastewater Certifications relevant to Beaver Dam Wastewater Treatment Facility
Compensation:
- Hourly with overtime and on call pay, also includes an excellent benefits package. Hourly rate dependent upon experience and WI DNR certification..
Schedule:
- Normally Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Summer hrs Mon-Thur: 9 hours, Friday: 4 hours)
- Rotating Weekends (every 4th to 5th weekend), Rotating Holidays
- 24 hour emergency calls
