City of La Crosse is seeking to hire a full-time Lead Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Specialist to become an essential member of the Wastewater team. The ideal candidate derives work satisfaction by helping make the community of La Crosse a better place to live and work. You will assist the community by operating the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and supervising other wastewater operators. This is a lead worker position. You will work with a dedicated team of employees whose actions improve the lives of the citizens of La Crosse daily. The work is performed under limited supervision of the Superintendent. Starting wage for this non-exempt position ranges between $23.54 – $26.96 per hour depending on qualifications, with potential to earn up to $30.88 per hour with career advancement.
Requirements: A passion for helping others. Requires knowledge of wastewater treatment plant processes, laboratory analysis, computerized control and reporting systems and related equipment. High school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training in wastewater treatment plant operation, chemistry and biology, five plus years of experience in all aspects of wastewater treatment utility operations, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. A valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) class B with tanker endorsement required, or ability to obtain commercial driver’s license and endorsement within 30 days on the job. Certifications in CPR, first aid, confined space entry required within one year of employment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer software proficiencies.
