New Holstein Utilities (NHU) is a municipally-owned and operated electric, water, water softening, and sanitary sewer utility serving approximately 2,700 customers in the City of New Holstein (WI) and five surrounding townships. The utility strives to provide economically priced, reliable, and environmentally friendly services and programs. New Holstein is located in northeast Wisconsin approximately 40 miles south of Green Bay and 70 miles north of Milwaukee.
New Holstein Utilities was founded in 1912 by a favorable vote of the community’s residents. Electric service was provided later that year. The first water well was constructed and began operations in the 1920’s. Today, NHU has 166 miles of electric distribution system, 25 miles of water distribution system and sanitary sewer collection system, and approximately 1,400 water softeners.
The General Manager performs as the administrator and manager of the activities of the municipally-owned electric, water, water softener and sanitary sewer utilities. The individual is responsible for the day-to-day activities and the long-range planning of the utilities to ensure that the NHU customers receive reliable and quality service in an efficient, cost-effective, and safe manner.
The General Manager reports to a five person Utilities Commission and is responsible for the performance of thirteen full-time employees (including three department supervisors) and three part-time staff. The General Manager will assist in the development and oversight of the annual operating budget of approximately $7 million.
The position of General Manager requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting/Finance, or Public Administration, with a demonstrated ability in the administration of public or private utilities preferred. An individual with an acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered. Applicants with a minimum of three years supervisory responsibilities is preferred.

Salary and Benefits
The starting salary is $94,000. Salary negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. Competitive benefits package is available.
