Eau Claire shuts down wells due to PFAS contamination.  Wisconsin Public Radio reported Tuesday that the city announced in July that it had shut down four of its 16 wells after tests found PFAS levels exceeded the groundwater standard of 20 parts per trillion as recommended by state health officials. DNR expects to spend up to $600,000 per year to supply bottled water to French Island residents with PFAS contamination.  The state’s cost to supply bottled water to residents of French Island  dealing with “forever chemical” contamination is expected to reach a half million dollars per year, potentially drawing down dollars for other environmental responses in the state.
