Operator in Training – Water Division

The City of Monroe (population 10,680) is seeking qualified individuals to fill an opening as an Operator in the Water Division. The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine semi-skilled manual work in the operations and general maintenance of the water treatment plant, wells, towers, and distribution infrastructure. Individuals operate in an apprentice role – learning general water maintenance practices and City procedures. In addition, the Operator must also deal with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner.  This includes receiving complaints about schedules and levels or quality of service, which should be noted and reported to their immediate supervisor.

This is a full time position with additional rotation of holidays, nights, and weekend work. Mechanical and computer skills are highly desired.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and a current, valid state issued driver’s license.   Preference will be given to applicants who have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and/or a current, valid WI Certificate as a water operator.
