The Village of Kewaskum Wastewater Treatment Plant is accepting applications for a full-time Lab Technician/Plant Operator. The treatment plant has a crew of two, averages 300,000 gallons per day, is a state certified lab and includes the processes of activated sludge, primary settling, phosphorus removal, and disinfection. Duties include working in the lab, operating the treatment plant in compliance with its WPDES permit/DNR regulations/Village policy, as well as maintaining the sewer collection system. The Village Board has defined this as an entry level position. The hired individual will be required to obtain a WI DNR Basic Level Wastewater certification within two years of employment and qualify for the DNR Advanced license within five years of employment. Applicants should have a CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements or the ability to obtain one for the position within 3 months of employment. Backgrounds in treatment operations, laboratory work, pump/lift station/collection system maintenance and computer skills are desired. A strong mechanical background is preferred. Working on weekends, holidays, in confined spaces, responding to emergency calls and assisting the Public Works Department when appropriate are required. The Village of Kewaskum offers a benefits package including health insurance and participation in WRS. Starting wages are $18.44/hour – $21.60/hour depending on qualifications.
