Town of Freedom is a rapidly growing community in Outagamie County, located between the Fox Cities and Green Bay metropolitan areas. The Town has approximately 6,100 residents with a median household income of $83,395.  The Town encompasses 35.8 square miles.  Land use in the Town is primarily agricultural and suburban residential.  Freedom is home to 2 privately owned golf courses, industrial park, many community parks, and the Freedom School District.  The Town center is located at the crossroads of County Highway E and State Highway 55 and has a small downtown atmosphere.

The Town of Freedom is seeking applicants to join our team as a full-time Public Works Foreman.  The position is a working foreman, scheduling and directing departmental operations while also performing the functions of a public works laborer.

The successful applicant will plan day to day operations, snow/ice removal operations, parks and street maintenance, and departmental purchasing, procedures, and scheduling.  The successful applicant will also perform the duties of a public works laborer as needed, including maintenance of town roads, right-of-way, signs, buildings & grounds, snow removal & salting operations, brush pick-up, minor to major pavement repair, concrete flatwork, repair and cleaning of storm sewer catch basins, storm sewer maintenance and repairs, storm sewer and lateral locate marking as needed, vehicle & equipment maintenance, grass mowing and landscape related activities; general forestry, and general public works activities including occasionally assisting at the yard waste drop off site and parks maintenance as needed. Must be reliable and capable of repetitive transporting of up to 50 lbs. and occasional transporting of up to 75lbs. Ability to work in confined spaces and in all weather conditions.

A minimum of three years of experience in public works or a related field and some experience operating trucks and construction equipment is required. Applicants must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and must possess a CLASS B CDL with air brakes.  Drug Test and background check required. Prior municipal laborer and snow plowing experience preferred. Must be available for afterhours emergencies, on evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly hiring wage of $27 – $29, depending on qualifications, plus benefits including paid time off; health, dental, and vision insurance; Wisconsin Retirement System, income continuation insurance.
