Strategic Planning for your Water Utility

The room will open at 7:30 AM with the class starting promptly at 8:00 am. The class will end at 3:00 pm.

8am – 9am: CIPs 1.0 hour- Capital Improvement Plans (CIPs) provide a working document for a community to budget appropriately for future projects and establishes priority. This presentation will equip attendees with the tools to be successful in the process.

9am – 10am: Getting Your Board on Board + Funding 1.0 hour- Projects only get built with funding. This presentation will provide practical tips on how to present your needs to decision makers so you can move your project forward.

10am – 11am: Supply Chain Issues 1.0 hour – With continual supply chain issues and lead times for major pieces of equipment continuing to delay projects, learn ways to bid capital improvement projects to help municipalities get cost effect and competitive bid pricing upon bid opening.

11am – 12pm: Hazard Mitigation + Emergency Funding 1.0 hour gain an understanding of the detailed and deliberate steps communities can take before, during and after a disaster event to assure funding program compliance and the award of essential funding dollars.

12pm – 1 pm: Lunch (Provided by MSA Professional Services)

1pm – 2pm: GIS Solutions 1.0 hour- dive into the techniques and workflows of modern GIS activities municipal leaders and water service utilities can use. This session will provide information applicable to complying with the EPA Lead and Copper rule. You will learn how GIS can be leveraged as an efficient tool in your toolkit.

2pm – 3pm: Water System Capacity Evaluation 1.0 hour- acquire a knowledge of standards and guidelines for water system capacity. Key considerations for both well capacity and storage capacity will be discussed.
