Well Drilling and Construction Projects – From an Operator’s Perspective

8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – Construction projects: planning, design, bidding, construction, and project close out. Class attendees will learn about construction projects from start to finish. The class will highlight capital improvement project planning and design, including budgeting and utility funding. The class will then introduce project design from preliminary layout through final design and the bidding process. Additionally, preconstruction meeting procedures, resident notification and inspections will also be covered. The morning session will conclude with punch list items and final completion of construction projects. Speaker: Jon Strand, PE – CBS Squared, Inc.
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Lunch Break (on your own)
12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Well drilling and well construction techniques. Class attendees will learn about Wisconsin geology and how it impacts water well construction. Wisconsin state statues regarding well construction will also be highlighted. Different drilling techniques will be covered as well as finishing practices including alignment, disinfection, and pump installation. In addition, well grouting procedures will be discussed. The class will conclude with well maintenance and rehabilitation techniques including televising and sampling. Speaker: Troy Simonar – CTW Corporation
