Village of Poynette is seeking applicants for a full-time Waste Water System Operator. The position is being vacated by the current operator who is retiring after 20+ years of service. The selected applicant will overlap with the existing operator for approximately 2-3 months.
General duties include the performance of wastewater treatment plant and sewer system maintenance duties and the operation of trucks, tractors and related equipment. The Waste Water System Operator operates with a high degree of independence under general direction from the Director of Public Works.
The Village will provide training and consider applicants who demonstrate an ability to gain the necessary knowledge and certifications. A combination of the following experiences and training would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Municipal utility maintenance experience.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Wastewater Operators Certification with the following Basic Subclasses:
- A1 – Suspended Growth Processes
- B – Solids Separation
- C – Biological Solids/Sludges
- P – Total Phosphorous
- D – Disinfection
- L – Laboratory
- SS – Sanitary Sewage Collection System
- CDL/Heavy equipment operator’s license.
Drug testing will be required. The position is required to meet some seasonal increases to workload, which may extend hours beyond the normal forty (40) hour work week, including rotating weekends, emergencies and holidays as needed. Over the next 2-4 years the Village will also be reviewing this position to cross train in the water utility. Operators would work together to accomplish both water and sewer utility functions.
Salary range is set at $23.00 – $27.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.
