Water Utility Director

The City of Neenah is seeking a Water Utility Director. The purpose of the position is to plan, organize and oversee construction projects, operations, and maintenance for a water utility with a surface water treatment plant, including oversight of distribution and engineering, billing and fiscal management.

Some of the essential duties are preparing a yearly operating budget and managing the approved budget, preparing a 5-year capital improvement program and managing the program, reviewing and analyzing the financial condition of the Utility and applying for rate changes when necessary, designing Plant modifications and distribution upgrades, preparing bid documents, receiving and evaluating bids, managing the Utility staff, which includes Plant Operators, Distribution Repairmen and a Meter Reader, preparing the Water Commission agenda and minutes and participating in the meetings, and preparing and approving reports to State and Federal agencies.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Science, Public Administration, Business, or related field required. Five years technical experience in a public water utility, or 5 years of related experience in environmental or project engineering, wastewater, or consulting in a relevant area required.  Three years of supervisory experience is preferred.  Valid driver’s license required.

Waterworks Operator Certification, Grade 1 with subclasses in Surface Water Treatment, Lime Softening and Distribution required within two years of employment.

Pay range is $75,630 to $113,454. Starting salaries above the midpoint of $94,552 require additional approvals.  Please include your salary requirements in your application.
