8:00am – 9:00am – Introduction to Mapping: Basics of mapping, how to get started with a mapping system.
9:00am – 12:00pm – Blueprint Basics: How to read and decipher blueprints. This session will include blueprint terms and basics. It will also show the attendees how to utilize blueprints to help build a better map. Jon Strand, CBS Squared
12:00pm – 12:30pm – Lunch
12:30pm – 2:30pm – How to Map Your System: Step by step instructions on how to map your own sewer or water system using simple tools. This session Includes discussion of GPS options as well as option of using no GPS at all. Also includes some mini case studies showing how small communities use GIS.

8:00am – 10:00am – Mapping your system, Cont’d: Learn how you can make your GIS work for you and how to address the most common challenges of developing and maintaining a GIS and asset management system. We will highlight the real benefits of utilizing a GIS-based asset management system as well as the advantages of integrating it with your maintenance and work management activities and enterprise systems. Real world scenarios will be highlighted, and questions are encouraged.
10:00am – 11:00am – Professional GPS Mapping: If you’ve ever wondered how the key components of Global Navigation Satellite Systems really work, this ‘GPS 101’ session will teach you what’s really happening under the hood. When GIS/Asset Management data needs to be sub-meter, sub-foot, or even better; there are some very particular requirements to ensure that kind of map professional accuracy. 11:00am – 12:00pm – Hands on GPS: Weather permitting staff will show people how to add assets to a map using GIS mapping tools and allow attendees to use these tools in the field.
12:00pm – 12:30pm – Lunch
12:30pm – 2:30pm – Hands on Map Building: Staff will help attendees start adding layers and assets to their maps with questions and roundtable discussions during the experience.
