Baraboo Utilities is seeking a qualified individual to perform all accounting functions for the Water and Sanitary Sewer Utilities along with being responsible for the daily operations of the Utility office. This is a skilled position which ensures all office procedures, including but not limited to, accounting, utility billing and customer complaints are handled in a timely and precise manner in accordance with the Public Service Commission (PSC) regulations and Governmental Accounting Board (GASB) standards.
Training and Experience requirement: Associate degree in Accounting with specialized course work in office management, computer operations, and data processing. Individual must be able to interact with the citizens of the City of Baraboo along with members of regulatory agencies.
Preferred training: 6 years of accounting experience and office management training.
Municipal Utility accounting experience would be a plus.
Physical requirements: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
General duties: This position is responsible for all accounting procedures for the PSC regulated Water Utility and for the non-regulated Sanitary Sewer Utility. Duties include accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer payment receipting, payroll & report compilation, materials inventory, journal entries, financial statements, annual PSC reporting along with audit preparation. Assist Utility Superintendent with developing annual operating budgets.
Office Manager supervises Utility Billing Technician position and serves as backup/assistance for utility billing process.
The existing Pay Range is $31.50 to $40.17 per hour, and the starting wage will be dependent upon applicant’s qualifications. Background check will be conducted.
