The City of Marinette is seeking a qualified and motivated Utility Operations Manager to direct, plan, and coordinate the operations of the City’s Water and Wastewater Utilities under the direction of the Utility Commission and the Mayor.

This is a full-time, exempt leadership position responsible for operational oversight, capital project coordination, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and public service excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of water and wastewater plants, distribution and collection systems, including maintenance and staffing.
  • Supervise department personnel, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Coordinate capital improvement projects, bids, contracts, and engineering support.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal water and wastewater regulations.
  • Support strategic and financial planning and coordinate with other City departments and agencies.
  • Regularly evaluates the results of overall City water operations and systematically reports these results to the City Mayor and City Council.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry or a related field. Five (5) years of experience in water and sewer systems management. Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Wisconsin DNR Surface Water and Wastewater license preferred.

Residency: Must establish residency within thirty (30) miles of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette in the State of Wisconsin within six months of hire.
