Youth Apprentice at the Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery Facility (WTRRF)

City of Fond du Lac is accepting applications for the position of Youth Apprentice at the Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery Facility (WTRRF).  This seasonal position will have the opportunity to learn quantitative and qualitative laboratory techniques used for wastewater analysis, including area industries, sanitary districts, and waste haulers.

Various duties and responsibilities include: Sample setup and analysis, including total phosphorus, total suspended solids, ammonia, BOD, COD, fecal coliform, E. coli, nitrates, nitrites, alkalinity, volatile acids, transmittance, and pH; laboratory maintenance and data entry. Most of the work this position accomplishes is within the laboratory.

The requirement includes being involved in the CESA 6 YA Career Pathway – STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) Bioscience Lab Foundations.  Proficiency with computers and Microsoft applications is ideal. Scheduled hours up to 450 total are allowed.

Facility Operational Hours:  Monday – Thursday 6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

The pay rate is $15.36/hour.
