Village of Lena is accepting Applications for: Public Works/Utility Department.  This is a full-time, 40-hour position.

Under the general direction of the Public Works Committee, this position will be primarily responsible for coordinating and performing wastewater plant and system operations. This position also includes performing maintenance of Village streets, associated infrastructures, systems, and services. Tasks include, but are not limited to, storm water management, garbage pickup, leaf/brush collection, sewer and water utility operations and testing, snow removal and Park and Recreation area maintenance. This individual will also be responsible for planning, performing, and coordinating maintenance activities in the fleet including analyzing equipment needs, reliability issues, and mechanical preventive/predictive maintenance programs. This position will work very closely with the Water Operator in Charge and Village Part Time General Laborer.

The position requires coordination of various Public Works projects alongside other Village departments as part of a small team but also requires the ability to work alone.

The ideal candidate will have at least two (2) years of closely related water and sewer plant operations experience, knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines and equipment, snowplowing, basic knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical components, and laboratory procedures. Qualities including strong attention to detail, ability to complete DNR reporting and competence to follow safety protocols are crucial.

Candidate must be able to respond to emergencies during off hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Functional demands include working at elevated heights, varying weather and being capable of lifting up to 100 lbs. on a routine basis. A High School Degree or equivalent and a valid Wisconsin CDL are required. This position will also require the employee to complete Wisconsin DNR water and wastewater certifications within 2 years.
