Water Filtration Plant Operator

City of Neenah seeks a skilled Water Filtration Plant Operator to ensure the continuous, real-time operations of integrated water pumping, transmission, treatment, and distribution systems. This role requires knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations including DNR, EPA, DSPS, DATCP, and local ordinances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze water samples to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Monitor and adjust chemical dosages and treatment processes to optimize water quality.
  • Use a SCADA system to oversee and control plant operations.
  • Adjust flow rates and system parameters to meet demand and maintain efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete logs.
  • Respond to security alerts and assist during emergencies.
  • Perform maintenance tasks on water treatment equipment and structures.
  • Inspect and repair equipment, including UV disinfection systems.
  • Serve as a backup operator, covering all operational tasks as needed.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, and snow removal.
  • Assist with equipment calibration and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree from a water treatment program or related field.
  • Experience: Two years of experience operating a surface water treatment plant including laboratory experience.  2 or more years of experience in the operation of water or wastewater systems in a plant environment; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Other: Valid driver’s license. Wisconsin Municipal Waterworks Operator License with Subclasses S, D, and L (to be obtained within one year of employment).

Schedule: This is a swing shift position.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Full Wage Range: $28.12 – $40.20 with an expected hiring range of $28.12- $33.62 depending on qualifications.
