City of Crandon (population 1,730) seeks a knowledgeable, hands-on Utility Superintendent with strong expertise in water and wastewater operations. A solid understanding of Wisconsin DNR regulations, Wisconsin PSC regulations and Utility Billing. This individual will balance regulatory compliance with practical solutions-oriented approach while maintaining high standards of safety and system reliability.
Strong leadership and commination skills are essential, as the Utility Superintendent works closely with staff, City leadership, residents, and regulatory agencies. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, initiative, and the ability to effectively prioritize work while supporting efficient operations and the City’s continued growth.
Expected Hiring Range: $75,000 – $90,000 (DOQ)
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or higher degree preferred.
- A Wisconsin Water Certification (Groundwater and Distribution).
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Wisconsin class B CDL.
- Supervisory experience and knowledge of utility operations preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Wisconsin Wastewater Certification with basic subgrades in:
- Suspended Growth Processes
- Biological Solids/sludge Handling, Processing and Reuse
- Nutrient Removal (Total Nitrogen)
- Collation Systems
- Solids Separations
