City of Sparta is seeking applications for this full-time position. Essential Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, very strong mechanical, electrical and plumbing maintenance/problem-solving abilities, ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, and ability to lift & remove heavy manhole covers using appropriate lifting tools.
Typical Job Responsibilities: plant operations, lab operations, collection system/ lift station operations and associated maintenance work and PMs. Will be responsible for operating various sewer main assessment, repair, and cleaning equipment in the collection system. Must record & maintain computerized service records on plant equipment, collect wastewater samples, & perform other operation & maintenance tasks as assigned. Desirable qualifications include experience in wastewater plant operations, experience in machinery, pump & vehicle maintenance, basic understanding electrical systems, and basic computer literacy. Wisconsin CDL class B license with tanker and air brake endorsements within six months of hire. Respond to after-hours plant, sewer calls and lift station alarms. Required weekend and holiday rotation once every 3-4 weeks 2-hours each day.
Wage/Benefits:
Starting wage $24.00-$27.00 depending on qualifications and DNR certifications. Wage step increases when obtaining DNR certifications.
