Public Works Laborer

Village of Mazomanie Public Works Department is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Laborer. Applicants shall be in good physical condition, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Additionally, applicants shall be able to proficiently operate a variety of hand and power tools as required to maintain village owned property and utilities. Such items include shovels, rakes, chop saws, jack hammers, chain saws, trimmers, skid loaders, commercial mowers, and dump trucks. Qualified applicants shall have a minimum of two years’ experience in water and sewer system maintenance or construction and experience operating snow removal equipment. Qualified applicants must possess a valid WI Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or permit with air brake endorsement at the time of application. Successful completion of WI DNR Groundwater and Distribution certification within one year of hire is also required.

Typical working hours will be 6:30a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and half-day Friday as weather permits; however, after hours, holiday and weekend work will be required based on need. Public Works employees work in a team environment and have frequent customer interaction. A positive attitude and excellent customer service skills are required. Finalists for the position will be required to perform a practical skills test demonstrating knowledge of tools and equipment and must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
