Village of Vesper is seeking applications for a full-time Public Works Position. The position will perform repair and maintenance to streets, water and sanitary utilities and public works. The ideal candidate should exhibit excellent communication skills, an understanding of the repair and maintenance of streets, sanitary and storm sewers, ditches, sidewalks and trees, along with a willingness to obtain new knowledge. The applicant must be able to interact with the public in a professional and positive way and be a problem solver. Working knowledge of water and sewer utility functions, proficiency in the operation and use of computers, a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, snowplowing experience and the physical ability to sustain long workdays outdoors in all weather. On call every other weekend. The position is classified as emergency personnel and must have the ability to respond quickly to emergency situations after hours and on weekends, must live within 30 minutes of the village.
Additional Requirements: Include a high school diploma or GED. Experience in municipal public works department with equipment operator and laborer knowledge. Within two years of hire, applicant must be able to obtain and maintain Municipal Water and Distributions Operator Certifications and Wastewater-General Operator Certification plus sub classes, and Advanced Wastewater Operator Certification within four years, or Applicants must possess a valid Wisconsin Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement or must be able to obtain license. Wage Range – depends on qualifications. Benefit package includes; vacation, PTO, State of Wisconsin Retirement.
