Village of West Salem is seeking a skilled and motivated Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our Public Works team. This full‑time, non‑exempt position plays a key role in operating, maintaining, and overseeing the Village’s wastewater treatment facilities and collection system.
Position Highlights
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment processes, lift stations, and collection system infrastructure
- Perform laboratory sampling and testing to ensure DNR/EPA compliance
- Maintain equipment, buildings, vehicles, and computerized systems
- Assist with budgeting, reporting, planning, and regulatory compliance
- Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to emergencies as needed
- Work collaboratively with Public Works staff and other Village departments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience in wastewater operations preferred
- Wisconsin DNR wastewater operator certifications (or ability to obtain)
- Mechanical/electrical aptitude and ability to perform maintenance
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL with required endorsements
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions and perform physical labor
