Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

City of Port Washington (pop.11,713) is seeking applicants for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. The Wastewater operator position performs work at a 3.1 MGD activated sludge treatment facility, associated remote lift stations, and sanitary sewer collection system.  This includes operations, repairs, and maintenance; collecting samples and performing tests, evaluating, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment; preparing and maintaining operations records; and participation in an on-call rotation with a one (1) hours response time.  Minimum qualifications include graduation from high school or GED plus a CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months.  Experience in equipment operation, maintenance of mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, or other related experience is preferred.   An associate degree in wastewater treatment or environmental science is desirable.  The ability to obtain basic level certification for all plant subclasses within 24 months of hire is required, and pursuit of advanced certification is encouraged.
