Job Announcement for Water Laborer or Water Operator Position
Are you hands-on, safety-minded, and ready to serve your community? The City of Ripon is hiring for ONE position in our Water Utility team—based on your experience and certifications:
WATER OPERATOR
Starting Pay: $27.56/hour+
Operate and maintain the City’s water supply, treatment, and distribution systems. You’ll collect and analyze samples, repair infrastructure, monitor treatment systems, and respond to emergency calls on a rotating basis.
WATER LABORER (Entry-Level)
Starting Pay: $24.89/hour+
Gain valuable experience assisting with lab work, maintenance, and system operations. This is a great opportunity to learn on the job and work toward becoming a certified Water Operator.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
- Mechanical aptitude & problem-solving skills
- Strong work ethic & willingness to work outdoors
- Ability to respond to emergency calls within 30 minutes
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certifications (for Operator) or desire to earn them (for Laborer)
**On-call rotation: One week every four weeks
**Career Growth: Laborer can grow into Operator with paid certification support.
