Director of Public Works

The Village of Windsor, WI, is accepting applications for a Director of Public Works.  Annual salary is based on experience and qualifications.

The Village was established as a Town in 1847 and incorporated as a Village on November 9, 2015 and is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees, of which the Village President is a voting member.

The Village, located in northeastern Dane County, population 7,795, is approximately 30 square miles (19,300 acres) and 10 miles north of the City of Madison.

Windsor is a diverse community that values our history, culture and unique attributes.  Our community is an attractive blend of urban and rural characteristics further enhanced by some of the nation’s finest farmland, parks (20 existing, a large Community Park coming online in 2019 and additional parkland coming in the near future), and the Token Creek Conservancy, which offers over 190 acres of public owned land.   Windsor has led efforts, supports and has invested in our heritage and agricultural economy by protecting 10,775 acres of productive agriculture in the State Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Agricultural Enterprise Area.

The Director of Public Works leads a department consisting of over 75 miles of streets (a cross section of urban and rural), stormwater, refuse and recycling, brush, parks, conservancy, trails, municipal facilities, water and sewer utilities.  The Department employs 4 full-time employees, with an additional full – time laborer being hired in 2019, and 7 part-time, seasonal employees. The Director’s work is performed frequently in office settings; however, outdoor work is required in the assistance of staff and projects as needed.
