Operator Technician

North Shore Water Commission is accepting applications for the position of Operator Technician.  This full-time position is responsible for assisting in the operation of the water treatment plant and related equipment. This position is responsible for operating equipment such as valves and pumps, adjusting process equipment such as chemical feed pumps, and performing laboratory tests including microbiological and chemical analyses. Work also includes maintaining, calibrating, and performing minor repair of instrumentation. The incumbent works under general supervision of the Operations Supervisor and Plant Manager. PLEASE NOTE: This position works a rotating shift that consists mainly of nights and weekends.

WAGE RATE (as of January 9, 2026)

  • $24.53 to $36.58 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS (see job description for complete list)

  • Requires high school diploma
  • Requires considerable knowledge of water treatment science
  • Requires ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Requires S-1T surface water certification within 1 year of hiring

  • Physical, drug test, audiogram, and background check will be conducted before hiring.
  • Applicants that have T-1 or S-1 surface water certification by the State of Wisconsin may be given
